  • I actually saved part of what would've been yesterday's entry. I'll include it and then write the rest...

Xanga, let me tell y’all about my day (ed. note: this is being written before noon). One thing - can’t really call it an issue or complaint because it’s not that serious - is that I never get to do anything anywhere near my talent level at work. I understand the reason for that, which is why it doesn’t upset me the way it used to. At any rate, supervisor asks two other people if they can do something, but both are busy. Hearing the “last resort”-ness in her voice, she asked me if I could. Now, this was nothing crucial but at least it was different. So I went and did it.

On my way out of the Capitol (it involved going over there), I ran into my representative - whom I’d been trying to get into contact with for weeks, but reached a stone wall in the form of his assistant. Talked to him for a couple of minutes and he said to catch up with him after session is over today. And finally, walking back to the office; I saw this amazingly fine woman in front of me. I haven’t seen anyone that fine since…at least Homecoming, possibly last year’s legislative session. I’ll probably still be thinking about her when this goes up (which will be after the rest of the workday, the meeting with the representative, and my should-be run). Yes, she looked that good.

Rest of the day was pretty cool, until I did some unexpected running around last night. After I got home I watched some basketball and somehow had enough energy to work out.

This morning was as crazy as yesterday afternoon...oh, I ended up not meeting my representative because session ended early. Sigh. Yesterday afternoon and this morning I was back and forth between the office and the Capitol. You all already know how that goes. We had a cookout at the office this afternoon, which was cool. This afternoon was really slow, but more than a little bit funny. From the supervisor forgetting to do something she does every day by 10 AM and me reminding her to the usual legislator comedy to our own side comments to the plain inane-ness of certain legislative staff, I didn't even need my MP3 player. Came back here and I'm thinking of going out. Pretty much covers it...oh, and I ran too. Okay, that covers it.

  • Turned out the package was for my neighbor (sometimes he has stuff shipped here when he doesn't want his wife to find out). Yes, I went across town to get something - during a UConn game - for someone else. Le. Sigh. At least he said this afternoon that if it happens again he'll go get it. Also went to Walmart and Publix to pick up a couple things. Among those things was some shoe polish. I shined my shoes - polished, whatever - for the first time. I should've been up on that a long time ago. My shoes look so much better. I shined every pair of black shoes I have...except one that I may still have: need to look in the closet. Normal Monday night outside that.

Normal workday, pretty much...except that NASW Lobby Day was today. I went out there when I could, but wasn't able to spend nearly as much time out there as I'd have liked. I really don't like being part of "the system" being in the firm, but it is what it is for right now. Came back here and went running...my run was much better than the one I did yesterday morning. Same distance, but I went a lot faster and pushed myself more. I'll probably play around on the computer a bit (perhaps another hour) and then pop in a DVD until I go to sleep - although I need to get my clothes and lunch ready first. Yeah, that's pretty much it. See y'all tomorrow.

  • So my car never left the driveway after I got home Friday night. I can't even remember what I did for the last part of the day Saturday. I was probably on the phone or something...oh yeah, I was for a while. No wonder I don't remember much. I do remember going to sleep quite early - oh, I worked out at some point.

Yesterday I laid around until the game and then watched it. Close as it supposedly was, it didn't have that Super Bowl feel - and I only liked two commercials. The M&M spot was funny and the Clint Eastwood commercial was good. After the game I watched some Predator and then went to sleep.

Today...watched Bloomberg and some other channels (purposely avoiding ESPN to not hear about the Super Bowl: may go without all week) before going in to the office. Nothing special happened there, and now I'm back here waiting to go get this FedEx delivery. I have no idea what it is, so I'm a little unnerved about what it could be.

Going to go through the usual Monday stuff after I get back from FedEx and getting in a workout. Think that's all I've got for now.

  • So I was laying in my bed about to call it an early night when a friend texted me about something going on last night. Me being me, of course I got up and went (which took a decent amount of effort)...and I'm glad I did. I had fun last night, and the place was full of attractive women. Went grocery shopping afterward and went to sleep around 4:30.

Of course I woke up at 8. Went back to sleep somehow and then woke back up at 10. Caught up with some friends on the phone and watched the UConn game. Thankfully, we finally won. Didn't play well, but Seton Hall couldn't hit water if they fell in the ocean. Got a little workout in and now I'm in the process of deciding whether I'll go out tonight.

In Tally, there are basically 3 options. Bajas is the most fun, but it's also the least convenient in terms of time and/or the most expensive. The Moon is cheaper, but closes early and isn't as much fun. The Edge is in the middle in terms of cost and fun (and it stays open the latest), but it's "hood" and a lot of people smoke, which makes it unhealthy. I can't even put this on Tally because there's no great option that I know of at home either. I know the Saturday spots in Tampa and DC (I just know DC because Love isn't going anywhere).

I may just stay in and go to this SB party tomorrow. Who knows. Hope y'all are enjoying your weekends.

  • Went out and had a pretty good time. The music was beyond awful - Plies should never be the highlight of an evening - but everything else was cool. Then I woke up this morning to find out that a girl I knew from undergrad died. I wasn't terribly close to her (even though we were certainly familiar with each other), but a couple of my friends were really close to her. Even though she and I weren't super-close, I wish that were somehow different and would have even if she hadn't died. She was just a really cool and nice person, and there just aren't that many people who are genuine with that in the way that she was. I still can't believe it.

So in the same week, I found out that my cousin is a fugitive and that someone who I really wish I was better friends with died. Suffice to say I've had better weeks.

I feel like going out tonight, but of course this is Tallahassee. If I were home I'd be headed straight to L'Boulevard Cafe in about five hours, but as is I'll probably struggle to find something on TV and then just go to sleep.

  • Xanga...went to sleep later than I expected last night, and was really struggling this morning. I made it through the day, though. Nothing special happened at work, but I had a pretty good lunch break. I put some air in my tires and bought a pair of dress pants that I'll probably end up wearing tomorrow. Yeah, that was about it. Going out tonight since I have a late day tomorrow. I think that's pretty much it.

  • So I ate, spent some time on the phone, and now I'm watching a disappointing game...and of course I'm here now. The funniest thing to happen today was when my supervisor asked me if the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act were the same thing. Let me run this down: legislative director at a law firm asked if those two pieces of legislation were the same. I was in utter shock for a few seconds before I answered the question.

Other than that, it was a pretty uneventful day. I need to get up and do something. I want to work out, but I'm not sure I'll feel up to it. If UConn doesn't play any better, though; I'll be sufficiently upset to at least get a light workout in. After that, internet radio show and then I'll be going to sleep (might not make the whole show) since tomorrow's a 7:00 day...which is alright because Friday's a 2:30. Earlier than it's been, but late enough.

Before I press 'Submit', RIP to Don Cornelius and Charlie Spoonhour. Spoonhour was a coach at (the University of) St. Louis and I'm sure most people know who Cornelius is.

  • Yesterday was a funny day at work. It went really slowly at first, and then things picked up a bit when I saw my Godfather at the Capitol. We caught up for a few minutes before I headed back to the office. Then I tweeted about how easy my day was going...not knowing what I was going to have to deal with an hour later. Long story short, I ended up staying at work an hour and a half late. Came back here, watched a lackluster Raw that everyone seemed to love, and then went in two hours early this morning. Today was better than I thought it would be, but it was still long. Glad to be here. I'll probably go to sleep early tonight, although I'm trying to get out of being lazy by doing a household chore a day after I get home. Washing clothes now. I'm also going to buy some batteries and start playing my Wii again to help get my core back right (along with starting back running). There really is no reason for me to be so lazy after work, though. It's not like I do real blue collar work all day. So that's my really short-term thing, to be more active after work.

January 30, 2012

  • I meant to blog yesterday. Oh well...Thursday night I slept and I laid around Friday until I had to go in for my little two hours (since I'm going in at noon today, my Friday will be longer - not entirely happy about that, but it is what it is). Went out Friday, which was a total waste of time. At least it wasn't a waste of money.

Saturday was one of the best days in a long time. I saw Man On A Ledge, which was really good. Came home and 'The U' was on. Watched that and then laid around before deciding to go out. Not only was the party fun, but I also paid half of what I expected to pay to get into the club.

Watched a little of Nadal/Djokovic before I went to sleep. Watched the end after I got up. I should have known then that yesterday wasn't going to be the best day. UConn then found a way to lose to Notre Dame. After the game I went to my cousin's dad's house and found out...well, without saying too much...that my cousin is on the run. His apartment was searched - after which he was kicked out of it - and his roommate was arrested. He wasn't home, so he got "lucky". The hope is that he turns himself in.

Came back here to listen to All Subjects Everything (internet radio show I've been talking about) and check on Royal Rumble stuff. Been about it. Well, time to slowly get ready for work. Really slowly...as in "work out and eat breakfast first".

  • Didn't go to sleep early, didn't watch the tennis match. I listened to an internet radio show last night and then just had a normal day. As such, I don't have a whole lot to write about. I want to go somewhere tonight, but the weather's supposed to be bad. Might be forced to just get some sleep, which I could use after the 38 hours so far. Of course, if I have 38 hours now that means there are only two left...yes, that means I'm going in at 4 tomorrow. I get to do nothing all day. Oh, that's going to be great. At any rate, that leaves me tired for now so I'll have to bid adieu.
