  • Last night was one of those nights that was great for no reason…and so far, today matches that. It didn’t start off so well because NickToons showed the wrong episode of DBZK. There was supposed to be a new ep, but they showed an old one. It got a lot better when Police Women started. It was the season finale, which I was sad about…but then I got the best news ever: they’re going back to Broward County next season! In case anyone forgot, I’m from Broward - but past that, Broward was the best season and had the two best-looking women (Andrea and Ana). April 7 is going to be great.

This morning was okay, except I rushed to the office for no reason. After that it was cool, though. I was invited to a surprise birthday weekend (since the internet is a small place I won’t go any further for now) - with the hotel paid for. All I have to do is get there. Woo to the hoo. May try to see one particular sight where I’m going too…well, I will try. There’s one event here that might be the same weekend - with my luck it will be - but I’ll skip it for this. Fun with the crew and I possibly get to see the sight? Sign me up, I don’t care what weekend it is.

I know I’m about ready to escape and…do nothing. No baseball this weekend, spring break starts for the students so there’ll be no one out…maybe I’ll catch up with the girl I’ve been mentioning lately. Maybe I won’t (it’s up to her) and I’ll just sleep and lay around the house. We shall see.

  • Made it until about 10:30 last night and then I was out. Stayed asleep too. Not much to report on daily action, except for the chuckles that we’ve had concerning one of our lobbyists. So she wants meetings set up with various legislators and actually wrote down on a sheet of paper…

    …”drop my name”.

Kind of nonsense is that? Like that’s the magic word or something. Like one can say [name] and people will just fall over. It got even funnier when people would say “Who?” and ask questions. That has been hilarious to laugh at. Honestly, that’s about all I’ve got. Police Women (season finale, I think) tonight, and DBZK before that. Might get some cleaning in tonight to save myself some time this weekend, even though there's no baseball to go watch.

  • So Xanga, today has been interesting. I've been up since 2:30. Yes, you read that right. I watched ESPN until 4, watched Family Ties until 5, and then Maryam was on - and once I see her, I'm not going back to sleep. So I went to the office a little early after one last attempt at sleep. Everything was going well until I noticed a problem and tried to fix it (as is my nature). I should have left it alone. I wasted almost an hour and a half before I gave up, and then I found out it's a recurring issue that no one could solve and requires professional attention. Sigh. After that I went to lunch...but spent lunch going to campus on a fruitless search. Paid $40 for not even 3/4 of a tank of gas and then there was a lot of stuff waiting for me to do - after I volunteered to help someone out yet again. I'll learn eventually. After leaving the office I ran another errand which ended up fruitless, but used the opportunity to pay my rent. At least that's out of the way, although the joke will be on me if they present the check tomorrow (which is obviously doubtful, otherwise I'd have waited). Came back here and worked out, which I figured would be good to do before this inevitable crash that will result from being up 17.5 hours (and counting) in a row. As long as I make it through the UConn game I'll be alright. If I'm still up at 11, though, something has gone terribly wrong.

  • Okay, so here's the craziness: every time I swear this girl thinks nothing of me, she says (or proves) otherwise. It's so odd. Right when I literally start to think that I can't read her or figure out what she thinks of me she'll send a text or something. I can see I'm going to have to work slower (not a problem) and think slower (now there's the issue) than normal. Oh well, we shall see.

Nothing else interesting happened...oh yeah, folk at the office are losing it left and right. That time in the MSW program may be put to good use after all. I also downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials, read a great article on HuffPost about Canada, and watched some Charlie Sheen TV. I guess it was an interesting day. Aw man, I need to put these clothes in the dryer. Later, Xanga.

  • So the text convo ended up in the two of us deciding to play some one-on-one basketball this afternoon. Yes, I won both games. Funny thing is there was no kind of little "spark" or whatever during the game. We were out there playing, and outside my questionable shot selection it was pretty clear that we both wanted to win. I could have backed her down and I could have played closer defense, but alas. There just wasn't the chance to try the little things to push the attraction aspect along. This is going to have to go slower than I expected. Ah well.

Nothing else to really talk about, as everything else was normal today. Well, except for the fact that I went to campus and walked around. I miss going to FAMU. FSU's not bad, but FAMU is...wow. I hope my cousin's ready when he gets here in the fall. Speaking of FSU, I went to the baseball game yesterday and then hung out with Romain (who I hadn't seen in 3 solid months) a little bit. Well, Raw is on and I haven't eaten dinner yet...although I did work out after the game. Yes, I played two basketball games and worked out. I know, I'm all that We'll see if someone catches on.

  • So I got a lot done yesterday. I worked out, cleaned the house, washed clothes, washed the car, went to the baseball game, and went to the club. My dad would be proud of everything except the fun stuff...okay, maybe he'd be mad at the fact that I actually let my clothes dry in the dryer. At any rate, I had a really productive day. I still have one load of clothes to wash and I need to get my clothes ready for next week, but other than that everything is great. Kitchen is clean, bathroom is clean...we interrupt this blog entry for a special bulletin: the girl from last week sent me a text and now we're having a text convo. Now back to our regularly scheduled blog...and things are good around here. Pushed myself a bit more working out, and somehow I had a bunch of energy and washed the car really quickly.

Went to the baseball game, and it was surprisingly breezy. It was almost cold. I know: funny. Hofstra scored the first 3 runs, but then FSU scored the next 16. Yeah, le sigh. Came home and made dinner, then went out after watching Superfly and Cooley High. The night was decent, but a bit disappointing considering the hype. The party was hosted by some KOD dancers so I was expecting a little more entertainment. The bit of entertainment was way up there - literally, in a way - but there wasn't enough of it. Came home and that was it...yes, I'm sparing details.

Baseball game at 1 and then I'll get ready for the week. Now to continue this text convo.

  • Dang, it's been a minute. Okay, it's been a month. I'm still settling into the 9-5 routine and (as has been evidenced by this being empty for so long) haven't quite figured out how to get all the things I used to do into an abbreviated "leisure time" schedule. I think what I'll do is Xanga at the office...well, write the entries there and then post them when I get back here. Speaking of the office, it seems like some people don't like me. I imagine it must be frustrating when you try to blame stuff on someone and they always have an answer and the fault ultimately lies with other people: sometimes even you...but oh well. That is what it is.

Nothing going on in the "love" life, of course. I did meet someone at a Super Bowl party and things were going alright...but she said she'd call back once and never did. It's been a week. I would say "on to the next one", but this was the first time I really thought about talking to anyone in a year. No telling when the 'next one' will be. So it's just "on".

Baseball season is back, so I've been going to FSWho games...even after leaving the office. I work downtown and the campus isn't far away, so I go to the games after I leave. I'll probably end up going to a lot of games because of this, maybe even all of them.

I'm definitely in the workout groove, though. Suits are even starting to fit differently (actually, that's been the case for a month). I'm almost back to where I was in early May - which was the best I'd ever been - so I'm happy with that. I need to start running/riding again, which is actually a possibility with the weather warming up.

Outside of that, everything is everything. I would try to figure out a schedule for everything, but I know myself too well to think that would ever work. I get to stuff when I get to it, and I just try to get to everything often enough. Works pretty well. Alright, I'm out.

  • When I couldn't remember whether I blogged yesterday, I figured I hadn't. Somehow yesterday morning I managed to lock myself out and couldn't find my house key. My keyring somehow broke and I had every key except my housekey. It was just a really odd occurrence. I looked in the car, on the walkway, and in the house. It has to show up eventually since I didn't go anywhere Wednesday and it has to be somewhere in the vicinity since I did get in the house Wednesday. Perhaps between cleaning the house and the car tomorrow I'll find it. The leasing office gave me a new key so I'm cool on that. Had some Chick Fil-A last night, which was good. Oh...practice girl came with some more of her nonsense. I played along for the amusement. She said she would come over for dinner tonight (would have been here in 8 minutes), but she doesn't know where I live. I just laugh at her being so pitiful, but have no idea what she gets out of this whole thing. Maybe she's a masochist. I'm saying, though: it's been almost 10 years since we first met. I couldn't take her seriously if she wanted me to. Not that she was the only game-playing girl who chose to speak to me out of the blue: another one messaged me on FB this morning. Why...just...why. As many female friends as I have that I plain love, it's funny that there are women like those two who cancel things out. Nothing special Thursday night...oh, I think the one blond officer from Dallas looks better than Mandy from Cincinnati (although she still looks good). Oh, speaking of looking good: Tamron Hall was worth the trip home during lunch. Wow. Richelle Carey wasn't on HLN, which was plain unfair since we had it on at the office at 4. Sigh.

No weekend plans other than washing the car tomorrow. Yeah, that about covers it.

  • About five minutes after I finished yesterday's entry I burned myself pretty badly thanks to a lack of a mitt and the presence of an entirely too-hot stove. The burn hurt like crazy at first, but the pain went away after a couple of hours. It looked really bad, but it was okay. Folk at the office about freaked out when they saw it. Anyway, after the burn I watched the UConn game until I went to sleep. Woke up at 1:20, no Maryam Nemazee (although Linzie Janis looks better every time I see her: she has a really pretty smile). Watched Die Hard 2 since I couldn't sleep. Finally went to sleep and woke up again at 3-something. Watched Boyz N The Hood. Went to sleep again and then of course it was hard for me to get started. Was almost late (although I had to be there early). Nothing special happened at the office...came home and had dinner. Now I'm convinced my oven is on steroids. Pizza is supposed to take 25 minutes to cook. Seven minutes in, I smell something burning. At first I thought I was just getting distracted, but I've overcooked (at the very least) dinner 4-5 days in a row. Going to see what can be done about it tomorrow. Anyway, I'm sleepy as a result of my unexpected movie night and an additional hour downtown. Catch up later.

January 25, 2011

  • What a dreary, nasty day outside. It was terrible. Rain, fog, no sun in sight pretty much the whole day. Nothing special happened at the office. Came back here and fought my inner laziness to get a workout in. As soon as these burgers thaw I'm going to eat and then watch the UConn game at 9. No guarantee I make it all the way through the game, but we'll see. Oh, I finished College Town today. Level 200. Three and a half months of playing, and it's now all over. Maybe I'll decorate my campus now or something, but it'll certainly be at my leisure. No leaving late for the club or staying up at night or half-watching something on TV. Anyway, going to check on these burgers. I'm hungry.
