Month: January 2011

  • Xanga...lazy day today. I meant to do stuff, but I played College Town all morning since I don't get a chance to play consistently anymore. Of course, the afternoon - as did last night - consisted of football. I did catch Joel at 9, which works so much better than watching at 1. Thanks to Lifetime for that. Doesn't quite matter as much as it would have earlier in the season, but oh well. Pretty sure I'm going out tonight...club is free and it's warmed up a bit. Just need to find something to wear. Cutting my hair would also be a good idea. Nothing else to say so I'll leave it at that.

  • Xanga...haven't done much today. Just caught up on some music (the box on the right will be adjusted accordingly by the end of the weekend) today, which was actually quite the task. Now I know what should be hot in the streets. See, in Tallahassee what is hot in the streets is the stuff I was listening to two months ago. I stay ahead of the curve, which isn't hard to do here. If I were at home the task would be much more difficult. It does get irritating hearing the same old stuff here, though. I like No Hands and all, but I was listening to it when classes started. People still play certain songs in the club as if they're new: I heard them over the summer. Just talking about this since it's pretty much all I did. I watched the UConn game online and of course I'm watching the playoff game now. I might - okay, chances are 15 percent and falling with the temperature - go out tonight, but there's a free event tomorrow that I may partake in. Second half's starting so I've got to run.

  • Xanga...haven't missed much this week. I did go to the mall after I came back Sunday, and then went to the my friends' new place. They actually returned (or replaced) the stuff that wasn't here when I got back. I was surprised...pleasantly, but surprised. It'd have saved me some money that I spent grocery shopping on my way back (the Wal-Mart on the way back is about the same distance from my place as the one I normally go to, so it only made sense). Watched the football games over there and played with their friend's little boy, who liked to "drive" cars on my head. No, I don't have any parts or anything that would make my head look like a road. Came back here and went to sleep.

As all y'all with 9-5 gigs can attest to, the week was rather monotonous other than Monday. Watched the game at a new sports bar (which used to be a restaurant). They have a burger which is meat and all inside a doughnut. I was so straight. I can't even imagine that. Tuesday I watched the UConn game. Wednesday and yesterday I watched Police Women episodes...Wednesday I watched Dallas shows On Demand and yesterday I watched Memphis repeats that TLC showed until the Cincinnati premiere came on. There are still no policewomen that look as good as 954's Andrea Penoyer, and there likely never will be. Tonight I watched the season premiere of Real Time with Bill Maher. Wasn't the best, but it'll do after missing it for months.

I've been thinking throughout the week about making improvements in a multitude of areas. First, I need to get used to this schedule and get back to doing things that I was doing before the job. Second, I need to tell this cold weather to go somewhere and get more active: both personally and in the community. I've always been wary of getting involved with things in Tallahassee (non-school) because I haven't wanted to make that type of investment here. Going to have to rid myself of that.

I watched the ESPN Town Hall. Everyone but Spike Lee was good. Lee was horrible. John Calipari was masterful in his commentary: absolutely masterful. Not saying everything he said was on the up and up, but he said it so well that I was amazed.

As far as the job itself, the folks in office services are still fine (and the sister can really sing) and the HR lady is still the one in the building. The one lady I mainly work with still looks nice too. That's about it from me...I'll be back.

  • How about this: an early morning edition. No, I didn't go out last night. Actually, I was so sure the Colts had the game won that I went to sleep in the small amount of time it took the Jets to win the game. Ah well. Thinking about driving back now but I'll probably wait until the sun comes up, especially since my car needs gas and I don't know which stations are open this early. Figure I can get back and get some stuff done. The one part of yesterday that went well was going out to the country to see my aunt. Trip was cool and she was really happy to see me. Might have to visit more often...when it warms up. The funniest thing always happens when I go there: my parents always call right before I get there or while I'm there. Not like my parents know when I go there so it's odd. At any rate I'm going to call this an entry and either leave or sleep. Whichever one I'm doing in twenty minutes is the one I chose. Later, Xanga.

  • So nothing special happened Wednesday night. Just watched the high school All-America game. Pretty entertaining contest with people making plays. Nothing special Thursday or Friday at work or Thursday night. My cousin went out Thursday but I thought discretion was the better part of valor and stayed home. That 8:30 is no joke. Getting used to the job but it hasn't quite gotten monotonous yet. Anyway, came up here last night...today should be full of spades and football. Should be good times (these are the good times...). See y'all tomorrow...and before I go I'd like to say most of this was typed using my phone's Swype technology. I love this thing.

  • Oh, Xanga...there is so much to tell. Problem is I'm tired from working out, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to tell it. Ah, I'll try to tell it and see how far I get. Well, Sunday I left home and my cousin and I talked about all kinds of stuff on the road. Politics, life, family, whatever. Drive was decent until we got halfway between Orlando and Ocala. We caught all kinds of traffic there and it continued pretty much through Gainesville. On I-10 my ex zoomed past us (my cousin was driving: she wouldn't have passed me, I promise you). Got back here and got some food - he has this thing for Hungry Howie's - and watched the football game before I went to sleep.

Monday was my first day at work, which thankfully didn't start until 11. First day was alright...the lady in human resources is so fine. I work with an attractive woman too, but the lady in HR is something serious. Day went alright. Nothing much on the homefront...Tuesday was a little more involved, as I got there at my normal time of 8:30. Had this huge project that I couldn't finish until this morning. If I drove to work I'd have stayed and finished, but my cousin (who had my car so he could get around) was there at 5:30. Today was a bit more difficult because I somehow let myself get pulled into working while off the clock. Please believe that won't happen again: my lunch hour will be spent outside the office.

Overall, I like my job (oh, didn't mention: I'm a temporary legislative assistant with a law firm). It's not as much fun as my internship at NASW, but it's alright. Almost forgot: the women in office services are serious too. Scenery is quite nice, although I try not to look because I'm new and all. Now that I'm back in the working world I can't wait until the weekend when I get to sleep...although I won't be sleeping here. I'll be in Albany for the weekend.

I keep forgetting stuff...I love my phone. It is so great. The TV and radio options - both of which I used at work today - are the business. I need to put some songs on it: maybe I'll get to that tomorrow. And last but not least, "never" became a few days. My dad and I talked yesterday about a few things. He said he really wants to try to work on things, which he's never said before. We'll see how it works. Okay, as I expected I pretty much covered everything even when I didn't much feel like typing. See y'all tomorrow.

  • Well, the day ended pretty much as it began. Didn't go out last night, just stayed here and watched the Tom and Jerry marathon after the football games ended. Well, after all the good football games ended...I knew what it was re: the Fiesta Bowl.

My mom wants me to talk to my dad before I leave but it won't happen unless she forces me - which she probably will. I just want to pack, watch Joel, and get out of here. We'll see what happens.

  • Happy New Year, Xanga! Yes, I feel much better than I did yesterday. Boulevard did the trick, as I knew it would. Funny thing is I don't even remember that much about last night. I remember not getting in the club until right after 12 and the floor not getting full until maybe 1:30 (like last week). I remember this girl (who looked good) moving me over so she could dance right in front of me and me not dancing with her - why, I have no idea. I remember seeing all kinds of nice scenery. I remember dancing with quite a few women, especially after 2:30. Here's the strange thing: I wore a collared shirt last night. I got refused/declined/dissed a lot more than I normally do. This has also happened the other times I've worn a collared shirt. When I wear a T-shirt and jeans I get all the positive attention I want. Yes, dressing down is preferable. Lesson learned. Won't be able to apply it until May at the earliest, but still something to note. More Ed Hardy (actually, I don't own any Ed Hardy) and less Kenneth Cole. Got stuck in an accident-caused traffic jam on the way home, which kept me on I-95 for a while. Didn't get home until 5:30. Helped my mom do some last-minute stuff and got about three hours of sleep before the breakfast. Anyway, people are still here so I need to be a host. Later, Xanga. All the best in 2011.
